The Sonic is beefed-up version of our popular Drone model. The ideal "first bodyboard" or for those who just want a quality product to go for a wave on through summer.

Compared to the Drone, the Sonic comes with a S5 Stringer (A stringer is a hollow, filament wound composite fibre tube inserted into the core of the board). This basically gives the board extra strength and decreases the chance of snappage. This board also has double rails, as well as Nose and Tail bumpers to give it extra strength and durability.

Leash and plug included + All colour ways come with a graphic slick!

It is ideal for all ages, with sizes from 34" (for the groms) through to 42" (for adult riders).

See below for an in-depth look of all the Sonic's features. 👇

Size Guide

Suggested Sizing

As a general guide, a bodyboard should go to the rider's belly button. apart from that, there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to choosing the correct size board. Generally bigger boards are faster, but not as easy to control, and generally suited to smaller waves and beginners. On the other hand smaller boards are a bit harder to generate speed, however, have greater control and are ideal for bigger waves and more advanced riders.

As a guide, please refer to the table below. If you're a beginner, you are probably best suited to a size in which you fall in the lower end of the weight range. ie. 40kg beginner woudl be best suited to 38", not 36".

Board Size Weight Range
34" <30kg
36" 25-40kg
38" 35-50kg
40" 45-75kg
42" 65-95kg
44" 80-105kg

EPS CORE

EPS is an extra lightweight core offering great flotation making it perfect for beginner riders. It is 100% Waterproof and ideal for all climates.

STRINGER

This is a strongly recommended feautre for EPS boards. It consists of fibreglass rod inserted into the core of the board. This greatly increases strength and stops boards from snapping.

HD SLICK

This a high density, closed cell thermoplastic found on the bottom of the board. It increases performance, while also greatly increasing durability by protecting the core of the board.

IXLPE DeckSKIN

IXLPE is a crosslinked polyethylene foam creating a very smooth deck. It is the stiffest, most durable decksing but protects against rash and abrasion.

CrESCENT TAIL

The most popular bodyboard tail. The clipped crescent tail provides the perfect mix of hold, drive and responsiveness when you need it, in all types of conditions

GRADUATED CHANNELS

These are contours found on the slick side of the board, near the tail and close to the rails. They are designed to give you rail control and making the board less likely to side-slip.

50/50 Double Rails

The two IXLPE Rails provide extra strength, while the 50/50 construction leaves a touch less rail in the water providing the perfect mix of control and speed for most conditions.

PLUGGED + LEASH

This model comes Pre-Plugged with nylon tether. For more serious use, we suggest upgrading to Basic Wrist or Basic Bicep Leash.

Sonic bodyboard

Delivery was quick. Have not used it yet so cannot rate the board's performance. Would have been good to see a picture of the leash on the web site. The leash the board comes with is not the curly/springy type, it's just a flat strap. Will see how this goes in the surf.

Kids Body Boards x 3

The kids absolutely love the Stealth Body Boards! We bought three different types, and they've brought a lot of joy. However, I'm regretting not getting a bag for them, as they are easily damaged during transport in the car. Overall, a great purchase, but considering a protective bag for future outings.
